Many of you know me from previous teams that I have danced on with you but for those who do not, my name is Jesi Murray. I have been dancing forever and for mostly one reason. The sense of family that I feel when I am on a team with such talented and wonderful young women. Many times throughout different seasons volunteer opportunities arise that we all seem to lunge at full force. All of us love to help out others in as many ways as we can. In saying this I have started a "team" to walk at the Light the Night walk for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. There are many reasons as to why I think we should all come together to do this but there is one specific and special reason for me. My father, Charlie, was diagnosed with a form of Leukemia a few years ago called Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia. He has been doing well but he just did not seem to be the same "daddy" the last time he came to visit. Being the worry-filled daughter I am, I asked if there was anything I could do to help and of course he said no, absolutely not. So I figured this would be a way to help not only my daddy but the millions of other daddies, mommies, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons etc that are dealing with leukemia or lymphoma. We (ProCheerleaders - past & present) are participating in the walk in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancer. These people are the real heroes, and we need your support to help accelerate cures and give hope to patients and their families. Although research is responsible for increasing survival rates for these diseases, the battle is far from over. Did you know that:

• Every five minutes, someone in this country is diagnosed with blood cancer: Every ten minutes, someone loses the fight.
• Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children.
• Lymphomas are the most common blood cancers.
• The myeloma survival rate is only 32 percent.
